The Bit O’ Red ready to new defies under Liam Buckley

A new era is to start in the Showgrounds with newcomer Liam Buckley to take over the helm of the Rovers and looking forward to bring his winning touch to these parts of Connacht and its Bit O’ Red.

When the Dublin based Saint Patrick’s Athletic let go of the services of manager Liam Buckley, the directives of this club did not hesitated to bring their new man to lead its destinies in the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland.

With a couple of campaigns struggling to keep afloat and not being able to put on a successful run among the top four posts but back to back campaigns showing off a modest game, the club decided to call it quits with then manager Gerard Lyttle.

After all, under Liam Buckley the Pats, the man delivered seven shields, being two leagues of Ireland 1998-99 and 2013, FAI Cup, League of Ireland Cup, Leinster Senior Cup; the man won it all in his time at Inchicore.

However, the day came that he had to look for new horizons and after seeing his time came to its end in Dalymont he resigned on September 2018 after his club losing to the Bohemians, in the end under his direction the Saints played one amazing football.

That was then and now these Sligo squad is looking forward to recover its lost ground in the past two campaigns and under manager Buckley these are hoping to start a new winning era in the Showgrounds.

So far, the club has invested in new players to come to boost the game in these Sligo Rovers, as their first signing was Dundalk’s forward Ronan Murray, defenders Dante Leverock from the Estonian league and former Cork City Captain Johnny Dunleavy.

For the Rovers front office hard at work to secure important players on contract and signing players of the likes of Regan Donelon and Kyle Callan- McFadden.

In addition of securing players of the like of Mitchell Beeney, Ed McGinty, John Mahon, Jack Kearney, Kris Twardek, Liam Kerrigan Niall Morahan and Luke MacNicholas and adding a new assistant in Johnny Russell returning to this old club.

Still the Bit O’ Red saw the departure of longtime player in Raffaelle Cretaro after seventeen years calling it quits and now going to the Finn Harps as well of Patrick McLean transfer to Derry City.

In spite of these two important players leaving, the club for sure will be making more announcements of more players in January before the start of the campaign to front what seems to be another contested edition.

As the preseason for many of the League of Ireland clubs is starting, for manager Buckley is business as usual and looking forward to establish a serious and more dynamic game with the Bit O’ Red to put on a contender.

In the end this club with its new players for sure this campaign will see an all-around improvement in the overall table, maybe this club will embark in getting more players before the start of the campaign to boost its defense or offense.

However to conclude this club if they make a dash to the top six spots and a finish in fifth place, for manager Buckley for sure will be among one of his first accomplishments fulfilled.

For sure under Liam Buckley, the worries of relegation will be outdated as this man success in his past career under the helm of several clubs he has managed; his accomplishments speak louder than words.
