The title race alive for Manchester City with a win over Liverpool

It happened in Etihad Stadium were a suddenly troubled Manchester City side was struggling to get wins after two back to back loses and upsets against so called small entities. 

Still the pressure was against the visiting Liverpool Reds and manager Jürgen Klopp looking forward to nail this match with a win and maintain their march with perfection from 2018.

With a grand game displayed all afternoon long, the Citizens showed their mettle and might of why they are the defending champions and today they proved it with an all-round authority of why this race is still wide open. 

As Pep Guardiola today showed off its mettle of why he is one of the most winningest of manager in football and gave a repass to a hot streaking Liverpool putting their run with perfection to an abrupt stop. 

Still the number of controversies surrounding this match were in its full, as a near goal that City defender John Stones got out within millimeters in what could be the game changer as well a clear red not call by the official. 

After a hard tackle over Mohamed Salah by City defender Vincent Kompany as one of these calls thanks to goal technology as well  the post playing its role and the second, well let’s leave it to human error or maybe a bit of exaggerating coming from Klopp. 

Still the foot being up for Kompany for sure the referee would award a red card instead of a mingy yellow to the displeasure of Liverpool Boss Jürgen Klopp in the end the game went on. 

However, this match headlined as a main event in the end to meet its expectancy as many stated that the current slump the Sky Blues were going through many expected a rout by these Liverpool side and its armada. 

A match where the locals with a loss these would see their hopes faded as the visiting Reds were to go ten points ahead, a tie seven points would put them within seven points, a win well within four points, and a title race reaching its climax. 

For the visiting Reds, starting the game these are comfortable, several counters in the first half, still the City defensive backfield raising to the occasion, and being the home field advantage the culprit and reason these displayed their best game.

 As the first half coming to its end the magic and skills of Argentinian Sergio Aguero, when Bernardo Silva put the ball for these Maestro delivering with the final blow sending the whole of Etihad into a frenzy in the 40’ minute. 

Just before the end of the first half, the local Citizens went into intermission with the lead and with more to come in the second half as the Liverpool side never quit in its desires of putting this away.

As this match in the end could been a one sided for the Merseyside Boys, in the end luck was not on tier side for the Reds seeing their efforts towards the posts defended successfully by Ederson and his backfield were immense.

Still in the second half in the 64’ minute a nice Andrew Robertson pass to a wide-open Firminho equalize the match at a goal apiece, for Klopp and company exposing some of defensive frailties of the locals but raising to the occasion. 

The brilliant finish was to belong to Leroy Sane on the left side of the box sending his shot beating the likes of Allison and sealing this affair in favor of his Manchester City in the 72 ‘ minute in a lead these never surrender. 

In the end in this edition of Premiership once again he title race decided in the last matches and undoubtedly  accompanied of the drama as many stated the thrill of victory and agony of defeat for one of the titans.
