For manager Keith Long this 2019 will be one campaign filled with many challenges for his Bohemians, after last campaign making an all-around statement that in its end closing it with a high note.
If you recall last edition of the 2018 FAI Cup that almost netted them a pass into the finals and nearly upsetting the defending champions Cork City.
The Gypsies after a sixth place finish with 48 points and a record of 13 wins, 9 draws and 14 losses, this coming 2019 edition of the Airtricity the aim is to overcome these numbers and looking forward to finish in the top three spots in the overall table.
However, for Keith Long his first order of business is to make his Gypsies an armada at home, where these have to become unbeatable as locals and not surrendered a single point if these are to contest for a European spot.
So far, the squad has seen the departures of some of its notable and promising players in Daniel Kelly (Dundalk), Dan Casey (Cork City), Jonathan Lunney (Waterford), Dan Byrne and Oscar Brennan to (Shelbourne).
Another blow was the injury that forced their goalkeeper Shane Supple into retirement as well center back Ian Morris and releasing backup keeper Colin McCabe, in addition of manager Long awaiting the verdict of Ali Reghba possibly staying in Leicester City.
With the return of the majority of this squad and important players, re-signing Keith Buckley and Kevin Devaney, by the looks of this squad campaign is going in the right direction.
Still the club front office has been hard at work in the transfers market, the arrivals of two goalkeepers’ in U-23 James Talbot- Sunderland and Niall Corbett from Waterford both of these will compete for a starting position.
As youth rules in for the Bohs Boss with the arrivals of two more U-23 from Brighton in Daniel Mandrieu as an attacking midfielder and Conor Levingston (Wolves).
Other additions for the Gypsies were a center back James Finnerty (Rochdale), right back Michael Barker (Saint Patrick’s Athletic) and right wing Luke Wade- Slater (Stevenage) all of these chaps ready to rock Dalymont.
As another exciting campaign is in the works in Phibsbourough were these hard fighting Bohemians can display a good and dynamic game that in the end of in the second half of 2018 season uplifted this squad solidly in the overall table.
The Gypsies, prepare themselves for their upcoming preseason, for manager Keith Long getting his troops ready for another challenge in quarterfinals of the IRN-BRU Cup against Scotland League One side East Fife.
The friendlies lineup are against Drogheda United on January 25th, Longford Town on January 29th and Bray Wanderers at Carlisle Grounds on February 8 plus their IRN – BRU Cup again East Fife on February 2.
As this match to play on the colossus of Phibsbourough, Dalymont Park, the odds of the Bohemians netting a positive result is within their reach to move to this competition semifinals.
To conclude the way this club has recruited some notable players to front in what seems to be another contested edition of the League of Ireland as well see a very competitive Bohemians looking to an outstanding 2019.
