Dundalk catapulting City on the top highlights a contested recap of Airtricity


Seriously, in this edition of the league of Ireland we have a tight contest between two archrivals that headline tis association Derby whenever these two play. Top-rated headliners in this past weekend of activities the leap that the Lilywhites did over the defending champions the Leesiders.

With the Town now leading the table with a two point difference and recording their ninth win a row over Cork City, as well the streak for the Hoops continues and the Bohs still perfect in the Dublin Derbies. 

With a sold out Oriel Park in Dundalk, the Lilywhites delivered mayhem over the Rebel Army that did not had it in them all afternoon long and surrendering to their hosts push and ambition, surrendering the top.

This is for now, as the league is far from over and we can see a lot of action from here to October when the league ends, with goals of Krizstian Adorjan 46’ and OG Sean McLoughlin 90’ and for City Josh O’ Hanlon 67’.

Dundalk 2, Cork City 1

In Tallaght the Shamrock Rovers are currently in the plus  and solidifying themselves in fourth spot with a win over their foes of Derry City currently in a slump and seeing the locals extend their lead to three points.

With scores from Daniel Carr 45’ and Joel Coustraint 66’, the Hoops sealed a valuable win on their quest to assure a European spot and maybe make a run to the league top, now the aims of Bradley and company are set on Waterford.

Shamrock Rovers 2, Derry City 0

In Markets Field the locals Super Blues of Limerick delivered a valuable win and defeat to relegation prone Bray Wanderers, despite the locals exodus of players, still they are sure they can salvage their campaign.

With an own goal by the visiting Gulls Kevin Lynch and early from Limerick’s Cian Coleman 10’ and for Bray Ronan Coughlan after trying the amth in the 17’, their chances of netting a point evaporated.

Limerick 2, Bray Wanderers 1

In Phibsborough’s colossus of Dalymont Stadium the local Gypsies continue on their perfect march on the Dublin Derbies with another win over the visiting Pats, looking on the early minutes as the sure winners.

Still with a lone goal from Bohs Kevin Devaney 39’, the locals step up their defensive game and delivered mayhem and three golden points and some barraging rights of who was the dominant one in these competitions.

Bohemians 1, Saint Patrick’s Athletic 0

Showgrounds in Sligo was the site of Saturday’s only SSE scheduled match between the local Bit O’ Red against the visiting Blues of Waterford, as both squads looking for a win, this match became a contested one. 

With a match that turned out too disputed and the amount of yellow cards from both sides of nine, the Blues came ahead with three goals from Stanley Aborah 4’, John Martin 19’ and Bastien Hery 33’ for the visitors. The local’s scores came via Adam Wixted 27’ and Seamus Sharkey 30’. 

Sligo Rovers 2, Waterford 3


Another set of news in the SSE lately is the transfers market highlighting the return of midfielder Patrick McEleney from Oldham Athletic and newcomer from UCD Georgie Kelly another striker to reinforce the Lilywhites attack. 

Other squads in the league added new faces in Derry City getting a new defender in Danny Seaborne from Exeter City and the Pats adding goalkeeper Brendan Clarke from Limerick. So far these are the latest news in the transfers market in Airtrcity.
