The Pats back on the plus with a notable win over troubled Limerick

Saint Patrick’s Athletic 2, Limerick 1
Richmond Park, Dublin

The Pats are back on the winning column with a comeback rally courtesy of their super substitute Conan Byrne to deliver three important points. For Conan Byrne coming as change in the 46’ minute of the second quarter, the man was playing as if he was possessed.

Since his incorporation in a move for Killian Brennan early in the second half, the man became a dynamo in the field for the Saints, with several occasions looking to open up the score over an overzealous Super Blues defense.

After the penalty kick in the first half Limerick’s on the run by a play set by Barry Maguire who came as inspired but luck was not on his side tonight in Richmond Park, when he was taken inside the box opening the doors for the first goal.

With Billy Dennehy converting in the 17’ minute to put the visitors from Munster up front and displaying an excellent defensive gem of a match,  after Killian Brennan tripping Maguire leading for their first score.

Still the spirits of the local Pats were not down and out, before the match, the locals had the sour news of the Dublin City Council not authorizing the expansion and new stadium deal for Richmond Park.

Do not call manager Liam Buckley a quitter after seeing his side going down in the first half by not putting on a serious fight, it was time after the rest to make some noticeable moves to try to start a spark in his Pats attacking core.

As the man started his work on several moves and one of them was of Conan Byrne coming for Kilian Brennan also and Jamie Lennon for Conor Clifford making on the double for substitution for Buckley.

Soon these two made into the pitch all of a sudden we see an improvement in the Saints offensive  with a more ambitious approach towards the opposition goal posts, a Conan Byrne went to work immediately with a free shoot.

Still Conan hard at work and looking obstinate to open up the score for his squad with a couple of shoots on the 59’ and 70’ minutes, coming short of his objective and with the third move for the Pats with Thomas Byrne coming for Jake Keegan in the 75’.

The attack of the Saints became one unstoppable one with Ryan Brennan making a shoot and missing to open up the play that lead for the locals first score when Conan Byrne taken down the area, he became the one to convert the penalty kick.

In the 77’, minute Byrne scored his first score of the afternoon to tie the match, then another shoot by the Pats by Tomas Byrne and two minutes later again Conan Byrne was to seal the deal with a shoot in the 80’ minute to deliver with a double an important win.
