This Airtricity is getting hot, hot, and hot with Cork City on the hunt

With a five-goal rout over a decimated Derry City, the lads of the Rebel Army delivered a one of a kind win over a slumping Derry City at Turner’s Cross Stadium. This win keeps the Leesiders within a single point of the league leader Dundalk.

After a heartbreaking loss in the knockout rounds of the Champions League against Legia Warzaw, but still luck favoring the City side with a bye until the third round awaiting a foe between Rosenburg or Celtic.

Hot is the ideal moniker to call this edition of the SSE with two of tis elite squads making a dash to the league top and despite the Rebel Army undefeated streak, still for the Lilywhites od Dundalk, these have some pending matches in league play.

As the Town side getting ready for their second round match against AEK Larnaca of Cyprus and these are not yet ready to return to league play, as these are sporting a successful winning streak and come this Thursday they will be on a test.

On the case of the Candystripes eliminated from their league compromise and in the global score from Dynamo Minsk, once again another flop for the Londonderry Boys, after their elimination now they have to find a way to level their campaign.

So far, in the campaign in league play City when they are against the ropes, suddenly we see a revival from this hardened squad, all of a sudden when the going gets tough for John Caulfield and company these get tougher and play a wondrous game of football.

The case was this Monday when they put a goal rout over a defense stricken and clueless Candystripes that did not put any opposition to any of their hosts counter attacks that lad them to this goal fest.

In this match, once again the City Boys big guns came to shine and ask that to Garry Buckley delivering with a double in the 19’ and 50’ to close a magnificent performance that uplifted his squad to return to the winning column.

In addition, of seeing Jimmy Keohane scoring in the 34’ minute followed by Damien Delaney 63’ and Ronan Coughlan in the 84’, these last two making a return to the Leesiders initial eleven and the way these delivered for their squad and manager.

With an Inspired and initiative filled performance that the Rebel Army put on for their followers today in the colossus of  Curragh Road with an average attendance that left all hyped up and happy after seeing the amazing offensive display their Leesiders put on.

For Cork City, getting a second win in the knockout rounds of the Champions League and making a run in league play with matches were they show off their potential in SSE, now their turn is to shine in the international stages.
