Dundalk seal their European deal in Oriel Park

Put round one in the books for the lads of Dundalk FC on their European adventure against a visiting and in the end hardened Levadia Tallinn. For the home side aware of the push and looking at a hungry Estonian looking to deliver an all-around upset over the home side The Town.

These Lilywhites have a lot of fight and maintaining a picture perfect run with perfection so far in the campaign, in their home league and now in the international side where they are already aware of their next rival.

As the Town Boys ready for round, two against Cypriot side AEK Larnaca and a foe considered not a walk in the park for many in these stages of the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Still the outcome despite its difficulty it is not impossible for Stephen Kenny and company of staging another magical run in the preliminary rounds until reaching their full objective in the coveted stage groups.

By the way, this club is playing lately and with an all-around unity and inspirational football these put in display every match these are putting in play, we may have another great fairy tale story to tell about again from these hard fighting Dundalk.

Still let us not toll our bells early as the next stages come and the higher we go we may have a difficult competition and foes the Lilywhites will have to face off but the way this club game is being outlined amazingly in defense and offense, we have a true contender.

Getting back to todays’ match in Dundalk colossus of Oriel Park with a very physical and determined Levadia initial eleven putting on a fight and in a dire situation the home squad and despite the push and pressure, Kenny and company overcome the odds successfully.

As the first half became the focal point of this match highlighting its all-around contest between these two squads, once again the man of the hour and a scoring machine opened the first score for the home side.

With back to back goals from the locals with Patrick Hoban in the 31’ opening the score and two minutes later Mr. spectacular Michael Duffy adds a little cushion to the Lilywhite cause with the second goal in the 33’.

The overall score was favoring the locals by a 3-0 global, still with plenty of time in the first half no later than nine minutes passed by when the Tallinn side netted a score in the 42’ minute via Roman Debelko to cut the lead to two goals.

Still the advantage was for Dundalk too scoring the lone goal away and heading for what was a disputed second half in the half, the way Kenny spoke to his squad became an inspiration and fierce defensive game exercised by the locals.

However, the talk of the game was that one of a kind play of goal from half field in a pass sent by Jamie McGrath and Duffy in the air connected on the left side of Levadia goalposts and sending the ball inside for what became the go-ahead goal.

Very well, his play compared to that great Dutch player Marko Van Basten for his stunning finish that made the whole of Oriel explode in disbelief after seeing the kind of football their Boys are displaying lately.

Despite the pressure from the Levadia initial, eleven in the second half in this contest, the Dundalk side really step up its defensive game and overcome the reaction the visitors put on them to preserve the win and now move on the next rounds.

To conclude I call upon you Mr. O’ Neill not only take in consideration the likes of Michael Duffy for the National Team but also Patrick Hoban deserves an opportunity and take advantage of his good moment.
