One highly piece of defensive works out for Portland run with perfection

There is always a first time and for the Portland Timbers coming to Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles. The challenge and thrill of facing one of the most competitive squads possessing one of the most feared initial eleven in Major League Soccer.

Still its campaign the Portland Timbers are playing one amazing game of football, highlighting its defensive game and running second behind the New York Red Bulls in fewer goals allowed with 22.

For manager Giovanni Savarese aware of the caliber and scoring potential his hosts were to send with an offensive prone 4-3-3 formation with Carlos Vela, Adama Diomande and Diego Rossi. He immediate was improvising a more defensive prone formation in a 3-5-2 with Julio Cascante, Lawrence Olum and Larry’s Mabiala in the back.

By moving to winger, the likes of Alvas Powell and Zarek Valentin on the side and in the middle accompanying the likes of Andy Polo, Diego Chara and Sebastian Blanco with the attack formed in point with Diego Valeri and Samuel Armenteros.

Gio had all the right moves to stop the momentum of his hosts and move on with an attacking game and looking forward to a repeat of that may match in Providence Park, still this Portland squad at home and on the road. The way they are playing one amazing football and today these delivered a gem of a defensive game.

As defense wins games, today in Tinsel Town, exposed to a defensive duel performed by both squads and the visiting Portland squad so near of converting in several attempts, still the goal was missing in action for both squads.

So far for manager Savarese in every match in the campaign is seen an improvement in his tactics and strategies that are working wonders and delivering their 12th game with perfection, still there is a match pending come in midweek.

With both squad facing off in Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the US Open Cup, we are about to see what squad will come rise and move on to this competition semifinals, as the Portland Boys are set for another challenge.

In every match, I see the quality and hard work put in by Jeff Attinella under the Portland posts defending these very zealously and consolidating as one of the league utmost of goalkeepers thanks to his amazing performances.

With Andy Polo back after World Cup absence with his national team, the Peruvian lad was hard at work offensively and looking forward to beat the likes of LA keeper Tyler Miller in the course of the match.

In addition of seeing how the work in defense with Julio Cascante earning a full time position with his defensive game alongside with Larry’s Mabiala both making a perfect one two combination looking to give Attinella a tranquil afternoons under his posts.

As well emphasizing the hard work and leadership put all afternoon by one man considered the motor of the Timbers defensive game, Diego Chara the man is an all-around and unstoppable dynamo.

The hard work and conviction these Portland Timbers are giving us in every match, is exposing the top of the line work manager Giovanni Savarese is performing for this group restoring all sorts of confidence to each one of his players in his initial eleven.

Yes a first time playing at LAFC home and being the squad that blank this squad top rated offensive game, now round two on Wednesday maybe Portland can check mate the Angelinos with a loss.

I hail for this club boost in its defensive game and now to upgrade a little its offensive attack will make this club one unstoppable entity in this edition of Major League Soccer.
