Dundalk ran a riot over hapless Pats

My question is it too late for Dundalk FC of staging a probable comeback in the last stages of league play with just seven matches to play and seeing Cork City that in any moment these can clinch the league shield.

Maybe but in the eyes and mind of manager Stephen Kenny his hope deposited in his Boys.

Still the Lilywhites after having a troubled campaign and seeing an unsurmountable number of defeats after seeing an exodus of three important players going to England’s Championship Preston North End and one to America’s NASL.

After seeing the result at Tallaght the possibilities still are around for the Louth County squad but the lead the City squad has over them is seen as something difficult but not impossible if these lose their remaining matches.

Something seen as impossible with the Leesiders next league match against Limerick, maybe the Blues can become their stepladder to finally claim what they are waiting for the league shield.
Going back to the Lilywhites recent feat at home in Oriel Park in what looked like a feeble and defenseless Saint Patrick’s Athletic squad not being able to contain the fury of their hosts.

As the Pats Boss Liam Buckley trying to level his squad campaign and seeing his efforts of maintaining them in the top spots, saw in disbelief how his initial eleven surrendered to the push of the Dundalk squad.

Inspired or hungry whatever you will like to call the Lilywhites initial eleven and showing a certain might that still declare them the league defending champions despite their foes fourteen point lead.

In addition, of seeing a goal fest that finished this match with a 6-0 final score, we saw how a determined and ambitious Dundalk frontline pushed the Pats defenders as if they were not present.

Starting on the first half injury time after the visitors luck ran out after containing the likes of their former striker David McMillan for a good course of the match in the early minutes, came the unthinkable in injury time.

With a penalty and the Pats being reduced to just ten players after Ian Bermingham red card, it is when David McMillan put the score at 1-0 and no later, he extended the lead to 2-0 before the half ended.

As the second half started with just minutes played on, when Sean Gannon  put the score at 3-0, followed ten minutes later to a 4-0 with a another brilliant play by Robbie Benson converting out into a score.

The game being one sided by the local Lilywhites and for the delirium of its followers, came goal number 5 in the 74 by Dylan Connolly and Thomas Stewart in 82 to close the rout.

An important win and with the hopes alive is what the outlook but hope dies until the end and for Dundalk Boss the waiting starts and now being a strong supporter of whoever plays Cork City and expecting a loss from them.

A miracle can be on the way or as they, state there is always next campaign as the Lilywhites for sure miss their threesome leaving a big hole and for manager Stephen Kenny back to the drawing board to build another contender.

Still the defending champions made an all-around statement of why they have delivered many satisfactions to its followers and yesterday at Oriel Park of how they will return for next campaign.
