After seeing the one
of a kind football that the Vancouver Whitecaps are staging lately, with their
win yesterday not only sees a continuance of a winning streak, but also
catapults them to first place in their Conference.
With one of those mid-week
matches in MLS schedule, the Caps were to host the Minnesota Loons in a match were
these two Western conference foes face off in the colossus located north of
False Creek, BC Place.
Coming to this match,
the Vancouver Boys coming from back to back wins over Orlando City and Real Salt Lake both
matches played away, now the stage was set to play at home to a near sold out
attendance.
As today's win mark
for the Caps their fifth match without knowing the meaning of defeat.
So far the positive
has paid off for the BC squad after today’s win this catapults them to the top
of the west above their south of the border foes the Portland Timbers and
Seattle Sounders, with a couple of matches against their Cascadia rivals to be
played.
Not only the top is
at stake with its Cascadia nemesis but also the coveted and always fought off
Cup that bears the name of this competition between these three titans and the
Caps have the advantage with more shields won.
I recall the lyrics
of a seventies song during the disco era from Mc Fadden and White call “Ain’t
no stopping us now”, these fit the Boys from north of the Border with the
amazing football these are displaying lately.
Hump day Football
lived a very exciting and one of a kind afternoon seeing a consistent and
dynamic Vancouver squad displaying a one of a kind teamwork from its initial
eleven in the field that each one of its players contributions throughout the
whole ninety minutes.
With today’s match, the
Vancouver squad put in display an armada in tis attack as well a rout over a
hapless visiting Loon squad that did not see what hit them when their hosts ran
over them with a 3-0 rout.
The tale of the tape
shows off a very prolific July and August for the Caps, and now looking forward
to stage another encore in September of their top of the line football that has
elevated this squad into the favorites ranks.
With just a few
matches left, this squad is getting better and better with dynamic and
ferocious attacking styles of footballs that is putting in display the wisdom
and work that manager Carl Robinson has instituted in this squad.
Still nothing won as
the weekend matches with its closest chasers in the Timbers, Sounders and
Sporting Kansas City trailing by three points versus a tie with the Portland
squad but goal differentials make the difference for now.
However, today's match
with an array of opportunities raining for the Caps with a total of 18 shoots
and several scoring opportunities missed that could be a much worse for the
visiting Loons.
The Vancouver squad
showed off its arsenal tonight with goals from Yordy Reyna in the 5, Erik
Hurtado 31 and Brek Shea 88 to seal the deal and see a continuance of this club
sudden show of strength.
Also something to
mention that this club is not relying itself on just one player but in its
completely initial eleven and to who cover as Robinson and company is showing
multiple weapons, that will come on handy on their match against the Columbus
Crew on the 16.
Stunning is the ideal
word to describe the way the Vancouver Whitecaps are playing football lately!
