League of Ireland recap headlining an all-around spoiler

Oh yes with just four matches in this week of league play, the furious performance and display of one mighty Hoops football was evidenced at home in Tallaght Stadium beating a surprised and disappointed Rebel Army.

Very well a goal fest in Louth County as well the persistence of adding points by a Finn Harps squad not giving up on its aims of seeing the light of another day with the big boys of Airtricity and a valuable point netted by the Tribesmen away.

With Sligo Rovers, Derry City, Drogheda United and Bray Wanderers fulfilling their FAI Cup compromises, it is the reason of seeing a short week.

With the highlight of this week in the match of the week between the Shamrock Rovers and Cork City, looking forward to start their long awaited championship celebrations, by playing in Tallaght the Leesiders were looking forward to uncork the champagne.

Not today were the Hoops totally making a statement and showing off a top of the line game delivering an all-around upset to the likes of John Caulfield City with a 3-1 rout.

The goals from the Rovers were Ronan Finn 14, Brandon Miele 21 and Michael O’ Connor 85 for the visiting City Gearoid Morrisey 70, now Cork City will need to save its celebration at home when they play a troubled Limerick FC.

Going to Louth County at Oriel Park, where the local Dundalk FC squad displayed their might and showing off why they are the defending champions and with true justice after winning the league three times in a consecutive way.

A goal rout from the Lilywhites playing a trouble Saint Patrick Athletics squad that along with their Boss Liam Buckley saw in disbelief how his Saints were taken to the cleaners with a 6-0 rout.

With a double and back-to-back goals on the first half injury time, David McMillan once again lead the fest followed by Sean Gannon 50, Robert Benson 60, Dylan Connolly 74 and Thomas Stewart 82.

This win for the Lilywhites cuts the City lead to fourteen points and subject to a miracle if Stephen Kenny and company looking for a miracle to win his fourth shield.

Finn Harps is looking forward to see the day of another campaign in the Airtricity League and with a notable win over Limerick FC to a 2-0.

Goals from Thomas McBride 35 and Daniel Morrisey 71 and with just ten men in the field deliver a painful loss the blues and leaving Markets Field with three valuable points tied with the Pats.

The last match between the Bohemians playing at home and looking forward to a win to start its climb in the overall table stopped abruptly with a share of points between them and Galway United at Dalymont Park.

An early goal from the Gypsies Patrick Kavanaugh 17 the lead and momentum the locals had ended with a late goal from Tribesmen Padraic Cunningham 71 for the tie and Galway looking forward to add points and its salvation.

When will Cork City celebrate or see a miracle with a Dundalk comeback, which will go down with Drogheda United already packing for first division, but Finn Harps, Sligo Rover and Galway United making a desperate dash for salvation.
