Don Diego set the tone again in a brilliant Portland Timbers win

The man is possessed or simply states it to be the best in the game, as Diego Valeri set the tone with his leadership and delivered again to guide his PTFC to a valuable win.

Still tonight’s match was to be for the big guns, delivering in the clutch and marking an important win in keeping a continuation of a positive streak for the Rose City squad.

After an early play, that included the likes of Blanco and Valentin were this filtrated a ball pass the feeble Colorado defense and Diego Valeri waiting trying a repeat of last week play against New York.

This time the play did not solidified as the ball went wide missing slightly Tim Howard posts.
However with another match, marking a positive performance for the PTFC not only for its win but also for its teamwork displayed once again, were everyone put is contribution and delivered positive results.

For the Timbers coming to this, match missing Liam Ridgewell still in the DL and Larry Mabbiala suspension for his red card against New York.

As always the Cheesmaster Caleb Porter improvising his moves, and giving Vytas Andreskevivious the starting nod again, the Lithuanian delivered like a mail carrier a one of a kind performance with a couple of notable assistance's.

That at the end delivered a valuable victory for the Portland Timbers.

Not only Valeri, Nagbe or Vytas but also the whole Portland initial eleven rose to the occasion once again and exercising an all-around domination to their guests that are putting a not so positive campaign.

In addition to the back-to-back wins, I see a positive in the PTFC with a prolific teamwork and so far, this is delivering wonders for them as well for the Andean to deliver another notable performance.

Getting back to the match, it mark the minute 21 when the first play that lead to the Timbers first score, when Mattocks after a nice pass into the area by Nagbe, he could not turn to shoot he passed to Vytas and this sent a nice volley in the center for Diego Valeri.

By converting the whole of Providence Park into a madhouse and continuing successfully with his fifth straight goal and now reaching a whopping 15 in the campaign, Don Diego is continuing to inscribe his name in gold in the annals of the Portland Timbers history.

Still we have more to tell as another magnificent play started by Blanco to Vytas and filtering once again the ball in the middle of the Rapids defenders, Darlington Nagbe chipping the ball he scores a beauty in the 23 minute.

A couple of minutes later the PTFC scores in what becomes the game winner.

The game not over as a fighting and proud Colorado Rapids squad managed to start a play that paid off for them in the 28 minute after a failed clear by Lawrence Olum, beating keeper Attinella, Mohamed Saied put the score at 2-1.

Despite that the opportunities abounded to extend the lead for the PTFC, these did not happen.

At the end, the night belonged to the locals playing a magnificent and inspired game of football as well being a dominant force in the field throughout the whole match not allowing the Rocky Mountain Boys any more liberties.

Very well, to the maestro or Jefe whatever you want to call the Andean writing his own history as a Portland Timber as well fulfilling in every match all sorts of accomplishments as well milestones.

A win considered candid and fulfilling for the Timbers going to this weekend match up north in another edition of the Cascadia Derby were a win up there will be icing on the cake and settling this squad a solid stance for the postseason.
