The Rebel Army is
back in the winning column after a couple of days rest and making a statement
on the road against a shabby Finn Harps squad looking forward to maintain its permanency
hopes.

This win puts in five
points the magic number for the City bunch to deliver the long awaited league
title these have been waiting and been denied in the past by their archrivals
the Lilywhites od Dundalk FC.
As both losses in this
campaign have been at home and by squads considered not so amazing in their
game and one with troubles with relegation, this time they made an all-around
statement despite the win by just a lone goal.
So far, perfection stopped
for the Cork City Boys elimination in the Europa League and then in the EA
Sports Cup and seeing their immaculate winning record in league play came
tumbling down with a loss to the Bohs.

The losses of Sean Maguire
and Kevin O’ Connor to Championship side Preston North End and so far their
absences felt heavily in the City initial eleven, but this not an excuse to
post mediocre results according to their manager.
Being back with a hefty
seventeen points over Dundalk and with a non-league match against Athlone Town
in the second leg of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup, their next outing will be another
away match against the Shamrock Rovers at Dublin’s Tallaght Stadium.

With Johnny Dunleavy
for City in the DL list, the Harps did not had in its initial eleven the likes
of Paddy McCourt, Gareth Harkin and Packie Mailey too sidelined with injuries
and Caolan McAleer suspension.
Still this match was
not an easy affair for the Leesiders as the end of the campaign nears the
fatigue and pressure of league play is taking a toll on John Caulfield and his
side.

Now to wait when the
time will come to be crown officially league champions while Dundalk FC putting
pressure and despite their double digits lead, this can twist in anyone favor
in a blink of an eye.
For Cork City it will
not come easy to deliver those five points to make them the league overall
champions and for Finn Harps its back to the drawing board to save their campaign
and make a return.
