When the going gets tough Portland need to rise to the occasion

With an upcoming Toronto match that showed some notable absences in its starting eleven, but as always, the Cheesmaster has a way of making his moves of improvising his lineups and these rising to the occasion.

Coming to this match the Portland Timbers were riding on a momentum.

To play an armada in the TFC with its initial elven all complete and an attack that easily terrorizes any defensive backfield in the league, the PTFC were to honor their moniker of almighty.

After a notable, win at home a week before over a hardened LA Galaxy, now going to BMO Field and play one of the top squads in MLS, the Toronto FC, indeed it was a challenge and with the possibilities of delivering.

With a starting initial eleven, manager Caleb Ported did manage to send a top of the line group in what many see in the TFC as one of the most lethal attacks in MLS with Giovinco, Bradley and Altidore.

That was not a deterrent for the Rose City squad looking forward to a notable result.

For a while the Portland squad did managed to stop the Toronto attack and deter any possibility of their hosts making their way into their posts and showing off a gem of a defensive game in its entire first half.

Especially stopping cold in its track the game Giovinco, Altidore and Bradley are the most comfortable with, still these is a team effort and after the main guns of the TFC being neutralized by the Portland defense.

It is when manager Greg Vanney managed to start something in his strategies.

Fifty-eight minutes the Timbers held the locals scoreless until the unthinkable, as they, state when the going gets tough you shall overcome and prevail, something not in the Timbers lingo.

When you have the control of the match you need to finish what you started, as the case of the PTFC these start a half in the plus and later they concede when they get a score against them.

You mount an attack and start playing with such hunger and courage in order to tie the math as well finish in the end with a plus, by winning it,  very well capitalize when you get the opportunity to take advantage of.

With the final stretch coming in league play, despite the PTFC position so far above the red line is possible thanks to some of squads not so positive result the Timbers are well situated in it.

In addition, luck cannot coincide if the squad does not deliver results, regardless of the injuries and absences due to suspensions, which thankfully these have not occurred lately.

As every human being has a proud side, the players are in need of getting that courage up and pride when things are not going their way and deliver in the clutch and for every opportunity  taken advantage in full.

The final stretch of league play is nearing and the PTFC needs to step up in its act and game if they would like to make it into the grand fete of the postseason and maybe deliver another miraculous run like that of 2015.

Do not blame it on Caleb Porter he is not at fault one more time I tell you, as little he can do to prevent injuries but in his job as a supreme leader he can really rally his troops and overcome adversity from now on, as every match an points will be considered golden.

Rocky Balboa is a fictional character, but he has inspired many from his films after being knockout and coming back to finish it, this is the way to do it, get up and give your best for the win regardless of the situation.

This team has it all to lift the MLS Shield one and many times with this squad, c’mon lads!
