What a match the
local Saints displayed against West Ham at Saint Mary’s with a total shootout
between these two squads playing a match with all the elements of a final due
to its intensity.
After their opening
day drawing against Swansea with no goals, today it was the opposite between
them and the visiting Hammers looking forward to deliver their first win after
a humiliating loss from Manu.
For manager Slaven
Bilic, looking forward to a notable result and a win that would lift his squad
confidence, at the end he saw how a brilliantly game being displayed by its
hosts.
So far, this loss
puts the likes of the Croatian in a dire situation of his job being on the line
if he does not level this campaign with some outstanding series of results that
can uplift this team in the overall table.
As in the transfer’s
market the Irons opened up their wallet and delivered the players Bilic desired
and in one of them Mexican International, Javier Hernandez known for his
moniker of Chicharito or little pea.
That did not let his
new Boss down as he delivered with a double in the 45 and 74 minutes, putting
the score even and going to play the always-hated role of spoilers to their
hosts.
After coming from
behind twice thanks to their million pounds operate all around heroics.
In addition, despite
the extra efforts from the visiting Academy of Football in this match, these
condemned it due to their harsh challenges on two Southampton players that lead
to the Irons demise at the end.
As this win puts the
Southampton Boys in fourth place with four points in the overall table, for
their debutante manager Manuel Pellegrino his optimism is back and looking
ahead of making this club a total contender.
Very well he being aware
of being in charge of one of the most prolific and productive of academies in
English football as every campaign a player or two leaves those substituted by
one of its academy prodigies.
Still this is just
the beginning of a long campaign for all the squads of Premiership.
So far the Saints are
marching in to a positive tune and who knows what will this campaign will bring
for them and their new manager looking like not stranger in the ranks of Premiership
despite his first run in it.
In the other side of
the field we have a worry man in Slaven Bilic with his defensive squabbles, and
with the transfers market still open, no sooner will he like to have Sporting
Lisbon William Carvalho as well a couple of defenders.
As todays match
exposes a weakness in the Irons backfield and with the way, these gave up the
match with a couple of horrendous plays that generated into penalties, at the
end deliver for the Saints the win and three points of gold.
Thanks to Manolo
Gabbidiadini 11, Dusan Tadic 38 and Charlie Austin 93 that became the difference
makers in delivering the upsetting loss to the lads of West Ham United and
putting them in the negative.
