After that fiasco
recently performed by England’s squad in this edition of Euro, the inevitable
came when its former Boss Roy Hodgson had to resign under a storm of criticism
and disapproval from a nation looking forward for its lost glories.
Alongside of just
getting into the second round and eliminated by a modest Iceland National
squad, the English FA was to start a very uncomfortable task of finding a
suitor for one of the most difficult and demanding of jobs.
Managing its national
squad and trying its best to make its lads into men or polishing them into
diamonds so far being all of them in the rough. It is not an easy task ahead
for that new Boss to come and not only qualify this squad into the World Cup.
Very well, restore
its place in the world stage among national squads and make this squad a
respectable one.
A squad of the likes
of England with many new prospects that have made this squad an overall
favorite in this past Euro, that at the end they just became a bust and did not
move forward in their quest for that lost grandeur.
With a long list of
possible successors and contenders for the job- the English FA will be on the
arduous task of getting their men but who will it be a native or a foreigner or
from its crop of managers within Premiership.
Money talks you know
the rest, as the English Federation does not need to immerse in a big name
Manager just because of its impressive CV, managing a nation squad is not the
same as a league squad. Another point to take in consideration is what will the
new man at the helm will offer and promises to do in order to bring contention
and open that ambitious spark from all its players.
The Three Lions squad
in the past has seen a couple of foreigners taking over its top job with
positive results in its helm in a couple
of foreign managers in Swedish Sven Goran Erickson and Italian Fabio Capello
doing a fair job, still the federation decided to replace them.
As a list of possible
list of suitors grows, for the delight of bookies back in jolly Old England so
far have placed their bets on who will it be the next one to take over the helm
for England. For now the long list of possible successors to take over this
squad among them several English and some foreigners, still the FA will have
its hands full for some time.
Not only the National
squad is the one to focus to their attention, as the new Boss for England will
have to continue the excellent work so far performed in the development squads
and academies to produce more talent and start them young and kindle them a passion.
I mention you about a
list that includes ten Englishman and seven foreign nationals to take over the
helm of one of the most reputable squads that has one of the world’s leading
leagues in its Premiership.
Here is a breakdown
of the English candidates that we start with Gareth Southgate the U-20 and
current champion with the youth English squad in the Toulouse Tournament, his
negative to take over the big team was a firm one.
Eddie Howe the AFC Bournemouth
man that brought the miracle of promotion Premiership for the first time of this
squad founding, despite tough a campaign he manage to keep the Cherries in the
big circuit for another campaign, but experience is a downfall for Howe.
Sean Dyche Manager
for newly promoted Burnley, after promoting his squad a couple of years at Premiership
and descending in the same campaign a year later he return with his Clarets and despite the interest from other squads, experience is
again the factor for the National team position.
Sam Allardyce the man
known to be a savior of trouble squads like Newcastle United and recently Sunderland,
considered as a candidate, because of his ways to identify with players and his
motivational approach. Harry Redknapp, Alan Shearer and Alan Pardew are touted
but still something missing from these three men. With the Neville brothers
both Gary and Phil the latter one in training at Valencia in coaching and his
brother Gary after his fracas in the same Spanish squad his bonus went a bit
down.
In the foreign side
if England chooses, from a long list in Rafa Benitez no stranger to Premiership
players, Guss Hiddink another candidate with his experience with national
teams, former PSG Boss Laurent Blanc and Team USA Manager Jurgen Klinsmann this
getting a lot of attention by the English FA.
In the Premiership side,
we have West Ham Slaven Bilic but doubtful the Hammers front office will let the
Croatian go, despite being unemployed and former Manu and Everton Boss David Moyes
is another candidate for the job but he can be a long shoot. Recently the FA
has been interviewing the likes of Arsenal man Arsene Wegner and with details
to be unveiled but nothing sure for now.
For now, England is
without a Manager for 10 days and counting and with the World Cup qualifiers around
the corner to be exact September; still the need for a Boss is kind of an
urgent matter. So far, England seeded in Group F with Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia,
Lithuania and Malta.
Many will state how
easy the English had it in their group, but as they say that, there is no such
thing than an easy foe.
At the end, England
is in a dire need of man that with his experience will be one that can create a
unity in its environment a certain brethren among the players and get that lost
spar that the previous Managers have not been able to get. Very well creating a
certain brotherhood and awake the ambition of the players and hunger of
winning.
It does not look easy
but it is not difficult for English Manager to be to institute these traits for
his current squad plagued with talented lads that they only need just a little
direction, not easy the task ahead for the English FA.
Especially its three
men panel in its Chief Executive Martin Glenn, Technical Director Dan Ashworth
and Vice Chairman David Gill after their Paris meeting last Friday, now they
are in the task of finding the ideal candidate and men to guide this squad once
again into the football heaven’s.
