Here comes the American
version of Los Galacticos- after last night performance, showing off their mastery
and one of a kind game. Along with a complete eleven in the field, the
Angelinos put on a show and the good luck of the visiting Dynamo- this game fortunately
did not turned out to be a goal fest.
A great night of football
in Tinsel Town and especially at Stub Hub Center filled with many Angelinos
looking forward to witness a western style showdown from its Galaxy Boys.
As last night this squad
came looking razor sharp with its offensive game as well its backfield despite
seeing two key absences of Cole and De Jong, it is the way Bruce Arena deployed
his troops at the end, that’s how they prevailed.
By the way, the Galaxy
is playing and moving up on the Western Conference table, so far seeded in
third place with 32 points just five away from leader Dallas FC and two from
second place Colorado Rapids. With no doubt the Angelinos if they keep this
momentum going and positive run, they may be on their way to the conference top
and favorites to win it all.
After all, with the initial
eleven soon it gets all together, lookout MSL squads, as this squad will be one
tough client to stop as last night the offensive display they put on the field.
Soon the whistle blew
the LA chaps came out determined to get the win and make all sorts of mayhem in
the field over a squad that seeing a tough campaign once again and so far has
not found its compass to win matches.
With the usual attacking
formation, Manager Bruce Arena sent Keane and Gio in its frontal attack as well
placing Zardes, Husidic, Gerrard and Larentowicz to headline a strong 4-4-2. Along
with a back four defending, he posts of Brian Rowe that so far he is doing a
superb job as the LA keeper.
The Galaxy started with
their usual attacking option in Gio Dos Santos, a top of the line orchestrator
and despite four Houston defenders already surrounding him, he still managed to
pass to Robbie Keane in the area after shooting it hit Houston defender Hurst
in the hand.
A play that provoked
the PK in favor of the LA squad, it was Robbie Keane to take the challenge and
something not usual for the Ireland international to kick it a bit wide, a
break for Houston for the moment. Still Gio Dos Santos continues with his play
making and putting a nice service for Zardes and this missing on a header.
Then with play after
play into the Houston area, it is when the big break hit LA, with a long pass
to Robbie Keanne and this missing but in the rebound, it is when Gerra took
advantage of the play and a cool push on the ball for the lone score with 66’
minutes in the clock.
Still the LA Galaxy had
an opportunity to extend the lead but an offside call on Keane who all
afternoon had multiple opportunities and none became a reality, along with a well-played
ball when Leggett put a nice service that Keane once again couldn’t took advantage
and wasting the opportunity.
The evening was
destined to an all-around occasion for the Galaxy million dollar man in Steven Gerrard
with an opportunistic approach and moment he delivered in the clutch and gave
is squad a nice round of points with a brilliant win.
At the end, a win is
a win and cleanly doing it the Galaxy took the three points on the eve of
getting ready for two important matches in midweek against the Seattle Sounders
in the US Open Cup and then on Saturday visiting the Portland Timbers.
