This edition of the Dublin Derby for the Shamrock Rovers

A very busy month of July has been in place for the Shamrock Rovers organization, one of them having to deal with a bittersweet elimination in the UEFA Europa League and suddenly having Pat Fenlon step down from his role of team Manager.

The Hoops suddenly had to appoint Stephen Bradley in the condition of interim for the remainder of the campaign. Still for the Rovers new man at its helm, it was business as usual and taking his first challenge in the campaign with the always-contested Dublin Derby, hosted by its squad in Tallaght.

Here we had a resurgent Bohemian FC squad looking to  move up  in the league table as well avenge the loss they encounter back in April at home in Dalymont to 4-0 goal fest courtesy of their bitter rivals the Hoops.  As this campaign, the Rovers are seeing a sort of dominance over their cross Dublin foes who in a four year span the Gypsies had the upper hand in these competitions.

Not today, as the Rovers having the upper hand by playing as locals, they were ready to erase that dry spell against their cross-town foes and they were looking forward to start adding points in this troubled campaign of theirs.

Still these Derbies are somehow a hand full to the officiating referee, by seeing and stopping all sorts of fireworks between both of these squads players, as the passion in this games is one very visible one in the field as well its stands.

With a match where the Bohs lost, a player in the 23rd minute after the visiting Gypsies had the momentum going   when keeper Delaney stopped a penal cold in the early part of the match to deny the Rovers Brandon Miele’s the lead. As the visiting Bohemians already had an early goal in the board courtesy of Kurtis Byrne beautiful shoot.

The Bohs had a certain dominance of the match despite the red card on Keith Buckley in the 20th minute that left the Phibsboro side with just ten men and the moves from Boss Keith long were not sufficient to stop the locals goal fest.

As the Local Rovers goal fest started, eight minutes later in the match when Dean Clarke opened the scores and four minutes pass when Gary Shaw scored the go-ahead goal pass the Bohs keeper and his defender for the 2-1 score as the local Rovers had the lead at halftime.

The Rovers in the second half saw their efforts paid off when all match long controlled the ball and the actions, here came a play with substitute Sean Boyd living the hype with just minutes in the game seals the deal and the winning goal for the final 3-1 score.

Still for the teenage sensation, his acts netted him a yellow after his immature prank in celebrating in front of the Boh fans, who did not hesitate to show their frustration by pelting him with plastic water bottles into the field.

At the end, the match went on and showing off a clear dominance of the Shamrock Boys over their cross-town foes the Bohemians, and the visiting Gypsies had one less men in the field their hardened stance prevented their posts to fall with a barrage of goals from the Hoops.

This isn’t over as both of these squad once again will meet but now at Dalymont Park in Phibsboro the home of the Bohemians and will see if these as locals can pull at least one match in this always disputed and historic of Derbies.

Today’s match puts the Shamrock Rovers in the winning column and with a nine point advantage over their closest chaser in Galway United, their fourth place spots so far enables them to be within the European spots.

For now, the role of Stephen Bradley at the helm of the Tallaght Boys destinies can very well extend to the end of this campaign and with the role he plays and delivers some needed shields to this historic club, maybe the Hoops have their new Manager.
