Cork City continues its perfection filled campaign

Indeed, with a notable 2-0 win over a troubled Bray Wanderers squad, the Rebel Army quest for perfection continues, by not knowing the meaning of defeat in league play.

With a shortened schedule in the league of Ireland, this due to several of its squads international play.

Sunday’s match filled with perfection once again and seeing City delivered back-to-back wins, today’s’ match in Bray showed off the mettle and audacity this squad is showing off its one of a kind football.

This wins assures the Cork squad a much needed push after their recent lost in Europa League to AEK Larnaca at Turners Cross Field, were Caulfield and company will try to do the impossible and return the favor away in  Cypress.

Still do not count this squad out of contention despite seeing a couple of its notable players in the league top scorer in Sean Maguire and Kevin O’ Connor both leaving for their new adventure in English first division football.

As today’s league match against a trouble Gulls squad, the City Boys delivered with another score via the overall scoring leader of this association, Sea Maguire opening the score for City in the 13 minute.

No later in the second half another Cork notable Jimmy Keohane put the icing on the cake and scored the go ahead and winning goal for a perfect laden afternoon in the Gulls Grounds and top deliver another clean sheet for Mark McNulty.

The win extends City lead atop the table with 61 points and fifteen points lead over Dundalk FC.

This is not over yet and for Maguire next appointment with destiny and last match as a Leesider at AEK Arena will be one of his most memorable in his career if he pulls an all-around miracle and delivers his last contribution.

The next rounds pass before moving on to Preston North End.

Despite their first loss in the campaign and especially a squad that does not give in so easily and playing one amazing football in the campaign, their shutout over Harry Keane squad was a shoot of optimism ahead of their international compromise.

Still this match was not a walk in the park for Caulfield and company but a resilient and heroic backfield played with such spirit and desires to not allow the home side any liberties to its game they are comfortable playing.

This game did not come easy for the visitors as the locals despite their troubles, these played one good match of football and never let their guard down until Maguire and Keohane deliver and the rest is history.

Now for Cork its mission impossible to the isle of the Mediterranean and deliver a comeback punch to seal their pass to the next rounds and continue on their European dream and company to the Dublin side the Hoops.

So far, in five months, the rebel army has just conceded two points to a draw to Galway United but the perfection in Airtricity League of Ireland continues intact for the Leesiders.
