The Marco Silva era
is about to begin in Vicarage Road at the helm of the Hornets, after last
campaign see saw and saving themselves of the infamous relegation, the Orns are
back in business.
After a seventeenth
place finish, these club directives made the decision to make a change in its
helm.
However, Marco Silva
does not come with the best credentials and references after managing Hull City
in its end and seeing it going down to the ranks of Championship.
The heat will be on
for the Portuguese looking forward to put this squad in Premiership primetime.
With a transfers
market were the Orns front office has made important moves but not to
spectacular, for Silva these new faces in Hertfordshire are seen as a possible
pump in its game and who knows a jump to the top ten spots.
So far, the arrival
of Tom Cleverley from Everton has given a new dimension to the Orns midfield
attack, along with Nathaniel Chalobah- Chelsea, Will Hughes- Derby County,
Daniel Bachmann- Stoke, and Kiko Femenia- Alaves.
These players will
complement the current roster of starters that Watford will front in what many
odds makers have dubbed this upcoming 2017-18 edition as the most contested.
Still there are many
question marks surrounding in the Orns backfield, midfield and frontal attack,
if they would like to make a run in the campaign and not be worrying all about
the relegation fight in the end.
As the likes of
Liverpool coming to Vicarage Road, then going to Vitality Stadium and face off
a renewed AFC Bournemouth and coming home to welcome the recently promoted
Brighton, Hove and Albion.
One thing this club
label is that it is a true fighter and can be lethal to those so-called league
giants as last campaign did some notable performances and scored important
wins.
Unfortunately for
Walter Mazzari who by sheer luck he and his Hornets barely were
spared of going down, its why the arrival of Silva as he almost performed the
miracle at Hull City but fell short.
As the preseason tune
up for the Golden Boys- with stints against Woking, AFC Wimbledon, Viktoria
Pizen, SD Eibar, Aston Villa (Graham Taylor memorial game) and closing against
La Liga Real Sociedad.
Despite the exodus of
players moving on to other leagues and clubs, manager Marco Silva expects many
positives for his squad and looking forward to a notable and improved campaign
in his first year at the helm of the Hornets.
With a club of the
class and fighting spirit it has shown with his current squad and the new ones
that incorporates it lately, this group can develop this campaign into an
interesting one and one filled with an array of headlines.
Realistically
speaking if this club sees an all-around improvement, with a finish, around 11
to 15 place if lucky, but do not discard this group out, as they can make a
decent run in the end of the campaign.
Nothing is written
and clubs can make their own history in the campaign, and this club for sure
can make that and silenced many of its doubters solidly, can Watford do it, it’s
up to Silva and company.
