Oriel Park lived the
excitement and thrill of Champions League, still the outcome was not the one
expected by many of the Lilywhites followers after seeing in sheer
disappointment a draw at the end.
As Stephen Kenny side
savored their Champions pass for a brief moment in the match, now these need to
turn things around in Trondheim if they want to continue in the next stages of
the knockout rounds of this European competition.
With an opportune David
Mc Millan an experienced lad of many battles, opening the score to give Dundalk
the lead but not for long, as later on, Rosenburg defender Tore Reginiussen
crash the party in a sold out Louth County colossus.
Certainly, it looks
like the Lilywhites are one of a kind squad looking forward to a repeat the
success of last edition of Champions League, so near and denied their
attendance to the big dance by Legia Warsaw.
Still this is not
over and for Kenny and his troops, as its business as usual and looking forward
to another one of a kind feat, that many of the faithful of this club are
accustomed in this type of competitions and next week this will not be any
different.
So far the liberties
given at times by a Rosenburg backfield comprise of four internationals and the
Lilywhites attack did not hesitated to look for many opportunities, especially
in the 18 courtesy of David McMillan who
delivered the opening goal and its seventh international one.
This considered as a
grand feat and first in produce such an achievement for an Irish player in such
prestigious competition.
Alongside the other
close opportunities for the local Irish Boys to seal the deal, if not the game
with a couple of more goals, but luck was not a good ally tonight for the De
Town Boys.
However, the return
game at Lerkendal Stadoin will be another test of will and mettle for the
Dundalk squad, familiar in this type of situations and facing always adversity,
the Lilywhites have surpass it.
For Kenny an early
exit will be a fracas, maybe as this campaign they have been facing some uphill
battles, but do not call this bunch a quitting one as they are facing another
one of their challenges for them to overcome.
Not easy juggling
league and international play but for these Louth County Bunch it is now or
never and a win away at always difficult Trondheim and its Troll Boys, will be no
easy feat.
In addition, the
shoot of optimism and hunger that the Lilywhites will get ahead in this
tournament were the Lout County bunch is hungry to make it all the way.
Still for manager
Stephen Kenny and his Dundalk FC the fight is on and with one match at a time,
his main goal is to deliver the unthinkable and make the miracle happen of
living the dream of reaching the stage group and play against Europe’s elite.
