After a promising
start of the campaign and a harrowing £150 million worth of players expenses to
reinforce this Merseyside squad and make it as an all-around contender if not a
true competitor.
All of a sudden, manager
Ronnie Koeman netting the ideal players to make a raucous stand against the
giants of this league, by aiming for the league shield, all of a sudden is heading
into a collapse.
As this campaign, the
Blues directives opened up their wallets, for a squad known in all of the circles
of Premiership to have a limited budget.
Imagine what would
been for then David Moyes and Roberto Martinez in their times to have at least
a campaign with the expending frenzy and getting a couple of players or two to mount a successful
drives.
Unfortunately it does
not come easy and for Koeman this campaign despite the firepower he has, the
sadness is that some of his players have not being consistency in the case of
Rooney as well for Sigurdsson not adapting to his game scheme.
As the Iceland man
can really deliver in the clutch and carry a club as he did with his Swans in
the past campaign, this is a diamond in the rough for Koeman not taking
advantage of his qualities that are phenomenal and valuable when needed.
Yesterday in a match
that could turn the tide and leave the odd streak behind for the Toffees, disaster
struck with a visiting Claret squad not giving up on its quest of making a
spectacular campaign.
So far, this campaign
has seen an innovated and restructured Burnley squad playing a one of a kind football
and playing a one on one approach against its foes including the so-called
giants of this league.
With a lone score
from Jeff Hendricks in the 21, that was enough for the visitors backfield to
step up their game and ambitiously defended their posts despite playing against
a whole venue that in parts showed many empty seats.
Disenchantment, you
bet as many of the School of Science followers left in awe after its multi-million initial eleven little could do to overcome the lone goal scored by
their nemesis considered as an average squad in Premiership.
Remember there is no
such thing than an easy foe and the Clarets were not that side to be fooling against,
proof is the lone score and not in the last minutes but in the half of the
first quarter leaving the local side to mount the score with seventy minutes to
spare!
As one English
tabloid showed off a statement made by Everton’s manager that even the big names
get sacked, is he trying to tell us that this project is becoming too large for
him or just trying to call it quits as this endeavor is not looking like the
pieces are coming together.
So far, Everton current position in a hapless sixteenth place and with just seven points barely holding
with a two-point lead over Leicester City and Swansea in the relegation, if
they continue with their skid, these can be in the bottom three.
As October is already
here, the Toffees are looking forward to level their campaign and in this month
they have a hectic schedule against Brighton, hove and Albion, Arsenal and
Leicester, by playing the Londoners at home and the other two away.
This month will prove
tricky for the Toffees if they can deliver a few treats turned into wins and start
adding much needed points to stay away as far as possible from the abyss.
Once again, the lack
of a striker to Everton’s ranks is one thing this club top brass will thinking
if reinforcing it, when the winter transfers market opens up but this club
should rely too in its youth system considered a top of the line.
Back to work for the
Dutch as he and his bosses would not like a repeat of yesterday’s conclusion
filled with whistles of discontent and boos that echoed all over Merseyside.
