Not in our home, was
the outcry the Watford Hornets squad put in display today at Vicarage Road against
a resilient and always tough Arsenal Gunners squad looking forward to start a
revival.
After an early goal
in the 39 minute by Gunners defenders Per Mertesacker, the Londoners looked
like the sure winners after going into halftime with the lead and after seeing
a continuance of their dominance for an easy win.
Not really, as these
campaign the Golden Boys are making an honor of their moniker of putting on a
grand campaign and for their Boss Marco Silva delivering one of the best starts
for this club since their promotion to Premiership.
Still the way this
club is playing lately and now after this important win over one of those so-called
giants of this league, the Hornets did it with style and putting on a constant
fight to make the score even despite the defensive might of the visitors.
On the Watford side,
the defensive game these displayed after the early Arsenal goal by the German, as
the push from the locals in the second half became more notorious, despite the
Gunners attacking efforts.
So far this Hornet
squad has shown a new desire to win and not surrendering to anyone, especially at
home and Arsene Wegner and his Gunners; this was no excuse for a loss against the
London Boys.
As this squad in the second
half mounted up an all-around attack and raised taking advantage of their opportunities
when these were available during the course of this match, as the visitor’s
defense became feeble to the locals arrivals.
As the evening not
only belonged to Cleverley after his last minute heroics that deliver a notable
win but too for keeper Heurelho Gomes steeping out for his Orns and making a
mockery of the Gunners constant arrivals and barrages nearing his posts.
As the Brazilian put
on his best efforts and all afternoon did not allow Wegner and company to mount
a comfortable score preventing the many arrivals and shutting down their offensive
might in the course of the whole match.
For manager Silva
sending a rare but effective 3-4-3 formation that at the end delivered an upset
to the visitors to their dismay, with an attacking frontal attack composed of
Richarlison, Andre Gray and Roberto Pereyra.
This trio became pure
dynamite to Petr Cech and his defensive backfield, when Richarlison making a
run in the left side of the visitors entering the area, when he was fouled by a
carless Bellerin in the 71 minute for a penal.
One that Troy Deneey
converted for the equalizer and the frantic display by the Hornets faithful
seeing how their squad fighting chance delivered them a possible point at the end
considered still a positive result.
The buck did not stopped
there for the Yellow Army that played like one and never gave up on their quest
to make the right play to deliver a historic win for the locals on stoppage
time.
Here came the man of
the moment in former Red Devil and Toffee Tom Cleverley who has a lot of
football in him and today in the 92 minute on stoppage time deliver a one of a
kind goal after a couple of rebounds, the man deliver in the clutch.
Giving his squad a
valuable win and uplifting the Hornets kin the overall table to fifth place
with fifteen points and seven away from first place Manchester City and after
30 years of a winless streak against Arsenal by the Orns, today the spell was over.
