Jose Mourinho moves paid off at the end with Martial in the helm

No Harry Kane in the initial eleven for the Spurs meant an opportunity to deliver for Jose Mourinho and company, having the edge of playing at home and not seeing in the field the likes of Wonder Boy.

With a completely sold out Old Trafford Stadium, the lads of Manchester United were to play against one of the most improved of squads in Premiership, the Tottenham Hotspurs.

As the Theater of Dreams once again lived a classic match between two geniuses of the game with experience versus dynamic, with Jose Mourinho years of extensive knowledge versus the likes of Mauricio Pochettino go ahead approach.

For the Argentinian coming to the colossus of Trafford Road to put in display, the revolutionary game he has instituted in this parts of London and making not only a contender of this squad but an armada.

The brilliance lately shown by the Spurs in this campaign and following closely the likes of United in the overall table was somehow a sort of a match considered a tight affair between these two titans.

Before this match, the odds of a positive result were endless for the Lilywhites.

That’s why Jose Mourinho did not took a lose but a cautionary approach in this match, despite the absence of Kane in the Spurs, that did not deterred the likes of Poche and company of displaying their one of a kind game.

A one contested match since the get go with both squads looking forward to find an opening in either ones boxes, with both David De Gea and Hugo Lloris putting on their best performances all afternoon long.

As Jose Mourinho sending a 3-4-1-2 formations heading the Portuguese attack were Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford accompanied by Henrik Mkhitaryan, the possibilities were endless for the Red Devil players.

In Mauricio Pochettino strategy putting in play a 3-5-1-1 formation with both Delle Alli and Son Heung- Min, the sky was the limit for the Argentina native and his bunch of netting a positive result despite their notable absence in his initial eleven.

One thing for sure despite the match turning a bit in the side of the locals with arrivals in the posts defended successfully by the Lloris all afternoon long and keeping at bay and enjoying pure genuine good luck in some plays.

Very well the foursome in the Spurs defense headed by Toby Alderweireld, Serge Aurier, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen that held their ground and ending the momentum in multiple occasions the intentions of goal of Lukaku and Mkhitaryan.

The Spurs Delle Alli and Christian Ericksen too put in test the Manu defense with both making attempts to beat the likes of David De Gea who put one of his best performances too and denied the visitors the goals that could made the difference in the end.

As Mourinho making his first substitutions of the game bringing Jesse Lingard in for Henrik Mkhitaryan in the 65, five minutes later Anthony Martial for Marcus Rashford that at the made the difference.

Earlier the Spurs Pochetino made in the 62 substituted the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung- Min for Mousa Dembele and Fernando Llorente to institute a more vigorous attack.

At the end, the strategy and all the right moves were for the Portuguese who saw his accuracy paid off when the combination of Romelu Lukaku to Anthony Martial did the unthinkable of beating Hugo Lloris to score the lone goal of this defensive minded match.

For Jose Mourinho this win over one of the most talented of managers was a one of a kind feat and seen as fundamental to keep up with their cross town foes the Citizens who also won and the league table seeing a one two Manchester dominance.
