This is it, the
decisive moment of how Martin O’ Neill and his Boys can make it happen on their
upcoming compromises, to deliver the unthinkable of netting at least six points
to get them in the right track for Russia 2018.
So far, the way the
Green Army put itself with its backs against the wall is something the North
Irishman Boss has to think a way of doing an all-around miracle in their last
two matches of the European zone qualifiers.
With a match at home
on October 5 against Moldova and later
going to Cardiff and face off a resilient and hopeful Wales squad, the
challenge looks tough but not difficult if these can overcome the pressure and
focus on just one thing, win!
For O’ Neill juggling
a series of notable players sidelined with injuries his work has not been easy
and at this time, experimentation is one thing he cannot rely on, despite some
of the promise the new players come loaded with.
A draw and a loss
they can kiss their dream of back-to-back international presence goodbye.
Still the positives
for both Martin O ‘ Neill and Roy Keane are somehow a plus for the Republic of
Ireland side knowing ahead of the consequences if they fail in these upcoming
compromises.
This does not look or
come easy for the Boys in Green, as the prediction of their upcoming matches
and one with a foe labeled as weak and already eliminated, still the Moldovans
can deliver a lot of havoc and derail their hopes.
The way Wales is
playing lately and at home with all of its momentum, the outlook is not a promising
one for the Irish squad, that at the end, a thing the likes to play with all the
odds against and on the most difficult of scenarios.
Still things are
going in favor of the Republic of Ireland when the Welsh announced that their
talisman Gareth Bale will be out for both of their qualifiers after the Real Madrid
man is ruled out with a calf injury, this being good news for O’ Neill and
company.
However, the way to
see a light at the end of the tunnel is still being somehow difficult after the
main question for the man of the north is who will it be its striker, with
Kevin Doyle retirement, Shane Long with a dead leg and Jon Walters out completely.
The question arises
on newcomers Sean Maguire, Scott Hogan, Daryl Murphy and Aiden O’ Brien of who
will get the nod, as well deliver for the Greens in the upcoming matches, and
see if these can make their worthwhile at the national team.
As Shane Long stated “we
have to do things the hard way, but we have to do it”, those were the words implied
by Shane Long after their loss at home against Serbia, maybe that is the case
but a couple of wins and pray for some adverse results, will deliver.
For now, the Green
Army needs a good ally in boasting their confidence and ambition to strike the coveted
results and maybe a touch of luck can be on their side that can deliver the
pass they are mad and obsessed about.
Now or never for the
lads of the Foireann peile náisiúnta
Phoblacht na hÉireann!
Pray for Las Vegas!
