Tonight’s match at
the colossus of Belfast was disappointing for Michael O’ Neill and his bunch
looking forward to deliver an all-around upset to the world champions German
National Team.
With a score of 3-1
in favor of the visiting Germans, showed off that Joachim low and his Boys is
not a walk in the park as well an easy foe to mess with.
Despite many notable
names absent in Low’s squad, still the way these played their game they are accustomed
with pure dominance and marvelous techniques, the Norn Iron was no match for
the push these exhibited tonight.
Very well the dominance
that put the Green and White Army defensive backfield to work in excess and
earning their pay, although the three goals rout the Die Manschaft or team got
from Sebastian Rudy, Sandro Wagner and Joshua Kimmich.
Starting with the
missile sent by Sebastian Rudy with just two minutes in the game and from the
distance he did the shoot that left the whole of Windsor silent and startle to
such practice the Bayern Munich man delivered for the opening score.
As the clearance from
the area from Lee Hodson was not enough and it’s when Tony Kross after seeing
the ball in his feet he just pass it to Rudy to culminate the astounding feat
and 1-0 despite the efforts done by McGovern to stop it.
After seconds of a
corner that the Norn iron provoked and unsuccessfully could not follow through
in the first intent and later Hodson shoot going wide, the North had its first opportunity
and the German backfield stepped up.
The visiting Germans
continue on their push and with a near goal from Sandro, that ball crashed in
the right side of the posts defended by Michael McGovern, that was a break for
the home side but no later three minutes passed when disaster struck again in Windsor.
As Sandro persistence
paid off and beating the North defender Gareth Mc Auley outside the area to deliver
the DFB-Elf second goal and lifting the lead for the visitors in a stunning fashion
in the 21 minute.
Assuring an automatic
pass for the Germans, although the game was far from over and still in the first
half and with a lot of to play and opening the possibilities for Michael O’
Neill and company to start a rally for the Norn Iron.
Still the start of
the second half once again saw the dominance of the visitors, the Boys from the
North started their push and one was a 27 by Magennis failed shoot, 37 Corey
Evans failed the near shoot that Germany keeper stopped cold to their dismay.
In the second half,
the Norn Iron once again showed off its might and easiness to deliver when they
made another break in the 55 that the play went cold and later in the 77 substitutes
Conor Washington shoot went above Ter Stegen posts.
Called this the moment
by the announcers and an opportunity the Irish squad had to cut the Germans
lead to one goal, but this was just a failed opportunity.
No later the visitors
started their push after seeing how the home squad was seeing a revival in its eleven
and with the moves done by O’ Neill these were paying off for the better for the
Norn iron attack stepping up more and more as the minutes passed by.
Still Joachim Low had
his ace under the sleeve and gambling with Sane in the backfield with a shoot
that Jonny Evans try to clear with a header it is when a well-placed and opportune
Joshua Kimmich beating McGovern and Evans to seal the win in the 86 minute.
Four minutes later
the response form the home team came via a combination of headers from Gareth
McAuley to Josh Magennis that push the ball for the lone goal from the Northern
Boys and taking away the clean sheet to Ter Stegen.
At the final whistle,
the Germans embraced in celebration as they qualified directly with their three
points to the World Cup joining England, Russia and Belgium as the ones already
netted their pass directly.
For the Boys of the North
a raw against Norway assures them second place but can difficult their playoff
stance as they await for Greece and Bosnia to loss their matches until then the
Norn Iron earns its pass.
